house 10-20-08

I have not updated the progress on the house in a while. as of last Tuesday, all rough in inspections have been passed, YEA!!! The insulation of the walls began. Friday, work on the retaining walls for the back patio began. work on the rain escape (to keep the patio beneath the deck dry) has been going on. the driveway was widen and recycled asphalt applied. road base was laid for the concrete area of the driveway. lots going on. the cabinets are in and in storage. the wood floors are in route for delivery next week. the sun room doors are scheduled for installation for next week and dry wall is going up soon.

two black cats have shown up and adopted the house. they are definitely not afraid of people. they walked around like they owned the house and who were we to disturb them.




the propane tanks were totally covered. the posts won't remain but are there for protection of the tanks while construction is going on

the road base will eventually be concrete. the asphalt driveway will come up to the concrete. Cecil had asphalt put beside the barn for parking of trailers.

lots of dirt and grading went on to level out the driveway and make it wider. recycled asphalt was laid from the house to the street


we have a wonderful walk out basement because the house is built on the top of a slope. but to have a flat patio, this causes a bit of a problem. to remedy this, retaining walls need to be put in for the dirt to be level. first earth has to moved away for concrete footers to be poured. then the walls will be built on them.

insulation is going in everywhere. spray foam insulation was used in the exterior walls. the pink fiberglass was used everywhere else. it sure made the house more sound proof.

the rain escape is installed between the joists of the deck. the decking will go above and cedar roofing material below. water will be channeled to the downspouts and through a series of gutters.
